English Cabinetmaker's Tool Chest

Price: EUR 12675,-
This is an extraordinarily rare and brilliant example of a circa 1800 English cabinet maker's tool chest with a dustless hinge and trick lock. It was customary for carpenters to use their tool chests as a showcase, a handmade representation of their creativity and craftsmanship. Each tool chest served as a unique reflection of their finest work. The most spectacular feature on this chest is the exquisite inlaid woodwork on the inner lid, clearly this particular carpenter's forte. The old original mirror, faded and cracked, is surrounded with several different wooden triangles intricately inlaid to create a stunning geometric design with accents on every corner. Nine narrow drawers with inserts are found inside, all removable to form a larger compartment. Owning a couple cracks down the lid does not in any way detract from it's magnificence, merely proves it's genuine use.

Just as the carpenters took tremendous pride in the beauty of their tool chest, you will, as well, when this sturdy, yet, decorative piece is displayed in your home. This is truly a dazzling one-of-a-kind treasure, offered exclusively by Lewis Drake.
