Purdey, London- 16 Ga. Matched Pair Game Guns, 1929

James Purdey, London, superb matched, consecutively numbered, pair of best lightweight 16ga. self-opening sidelock game guns completed in 1929. Weight 6 lbs. Stock dimensions for both guns: 14 5/8"x 1 5/8"x 2 7/16"x 1/4" cast-off. Both guns have perfect 28" "Whitworth Steel" barrels with 2 1/2" chambers and absolutely mint bores and chokes bored right, tight cylinder, and left, modified. Both guns retain most of their original finish throughout and have seen minimal use. Beautifully figured straight grip stocks and splinter forends. Original leather covered Silver's butt pads. All barrel measurements and stock dimensions conform to the original factory specifications as documented in an accompanying letter from the maker. This magnificent pair of guns comes with the original factory motor case along with a relatively modern best oak and leather case filled with a complete complement of highest quality ivory handled accessories. Overall exceptionally rare and likely the finest pair of 16ga. Purdey guns you will see offered for sale.
