Samuel & Charles Smith, London. Best 13-bore single barrel flintlock game gun made in 1846

Precio: EUR 37000,-
Samuel & Charles Smith, London. Best 13-bore single barrel flintlock game gun made in 1846. Superb 33”, three-stage, damascus steel barrel, the breech octagonal then sixteen-sided with wedding-band moulding then tapered round to the muzzle, retaining 100% of the original brown finish and the bore absolutely mint. Engraved, stepped-in, breech with two platinum lines and platinum-lined touch hole, retains all the original color hardening. Highest-quality lock with typical Smith upswept waterproof pan retains all the original hardening color and frizzen spring retains all the original fire-blue finish. Highly figured walnut half-stock retains 100% of the original finish and the beautifully engraved mounts retain virtually all the original brilliant black finish. Cased in the original maker’s case with every original accessory including a spare frizzen (indisinguishable from the original) by master gunmaker, Michael J. Ehinger, of Stedman, NC. The whole set in absolutely mint, unused, condition throughout. Overall a magnificent set by (perhaps arguably) the greatest of all the best English flintlock gunmakers. Absolutely none finer!
