Charles Moore, London, best 20-bore double barrel flintlock game gun, ca. 1823. 30" twist steel barrels with mint bores retain 100% old rebrown finish and beautifully sculpted stepped-in breeches with two gold inlaid lines retain most of the original hardening colors. Extremely rare and unusual pans in which the inner third of the pan is integral with the breech - this, along with a platinum gasket on the underside of each pan cover, allows for an absolutely watertight seal. Pans have no corrosion and show no evidence of use whatever. Highest quality locks are finely engraved and mechanically perfect. Extremely highly figured walnut stock retains 100% original finish and shows no wear or evidence of use. All mounts remain in virtually unused condition and the entire gun is beautifully engraved. Overall an absolutely stunning original gun in unused condition and a great rarity. |
