Joseph Keeslar, reproduction .30 cal. flintlock Tennessee mountain rifle, ca. 1960's. Weight 6 3/4 lbs. Beautiful 40" swamped octagonal Getz barrel measuring 13/16" across the flats at the breech with stainless steel touch hole liner. Wonderfully slender walnut full stock with all hand forged iron mounts including butt plate, toe plate, spring loaded patch box cover, trigger guard, side plate ramrod pipes and nose cap. Double set triggers. The frizzen is faced with a layer of high carbon steel and sparks very well. Joe Keeslar is a true master craftsman and is currently president of the American Blade Smith's Society. He devotes full time to the forging of custom knives and has not made a rifle in many years. This superb example comes with the original horn, hunting bag, and skinning knife all made by Joe, as well. One of a kind outfit that could not be replaced for anywhere near this price. |
