Vintage Arms - Antique Rifles and Fowlers -

Smith, London- 16-Bore Double Flintlock Fowler, ca. 1815

Price: EUR 29500,-
William Smith, London, superb 16-bore double flintlock fowler, ca. 1815. Wt. 6lbs. 2oz. 14 3/8"x 1 3/8"x 2 3/8"x 1/4" cast-off. Perfect 30" Damascus barrels with absolutely mint untouched bores (.672"/.672") and thick walls (.041"/.035") have no dents, dings, or scratches whatever and have about 90% silvery gray finish. Highly sculpted stepped-in breeches have 4 platinum inlaid lines, original platinum touch-hole liners, and show no corrosion or pitting whatever. Magnificent locks with goose neck cocks have the classic upswept Smith-Patent pans, 4-screw bridles, and the unique feature of incorporating rollers on both the frizzen springs AND the frizzens. Locks and breeches show no corrosion whatever even in the bottoms of the pans and retain traces of the original hardening colors with traces of the original blue on the frizzen springs. Highly figured walnut stock shows no wear and beautifully engraved iron mounts show little evidence of use. Original ramrod. Overall, both functionally and esthetically, one of the finest English flintlock fowlers I have ever seen.
