Beautiful hand forged Damascus steel blade with brass guard and blued spring steel handle. This is an exact reproduction of an English survival knife, ca. 1870. The 9 1" blade with hollow handle has a special grip feature that facilitates a secure mounting on the end of a shaft to form a spear- simply hack a branch from a tree and slide it into the handle. Ingenious design that is just as useful today as when it was introduced in the mid-1800's. A neat and versitile work horse of a tool with exaggerated serrations on the dorsal side for sawing and elongated double sided sharpened point for thrusting. Superb quality in every detail. Overall length is 14".
