Beckwith, Londres; Arma deportiva monotiro 14-Bore; aprox.1810

Precio: EUR 24500,-
Agotado
William Beckwith, London, best 14-bore single barrel sporting gun, ca. 1810. Superb 31" tapered Damascus steel barrel with silver foresight and absolutely mint bore retains virtually all of the original brown finish. "W. A. Beckwith London" inlaid in gold at the breech. Case hardened patent breech with a single platinum line, gold inlaid sunburst, and platinum lined touch-hole retaining most of the original hardening colors. Superb lock with pierced cock, rainproof pan, and roller frizzen is beautifully engraved and retains much of the original hardening colors with the frizzen spring retaining most of the original brilliant blue finish. Finely engraved iron mounts with trigger guard retaining virtually all the original brilliant black finish and butt plate retaining much of the original black. Trigger plate with finely engraved pineapple finial retains most of the original hardening colors, as well. Highly figured walnut half stock with all the original finish shows no evidence of use other than a few, very minor, handling marks. The whole in the original fitted mahogany case lined with plum velvet, with fancy original trade label, and supplied with all the original accessories. Also, in the case is a letter of 1952 from T. E. Thompson offering the gun for sale, describing the completeness and originality of the set, and stating, "All has been in family possession since new." Overall, a magnificent set by one of the greatest London makers, completely original, in near mint condition, and a great rarity.
