William Moore and Grey, London, best lightweight 12ga. hammer gun, ca. 1874-1878. Wt.5 lbs. 143\8" x 2 3\8" x 1\8" cast-off. Beautiful, highest quality, 28" Damascus barrels with brilliant bores (.731"\.735") choked .026"/.017", have 2 1\2" chambers, good wall thickness (.027"/.024") and original BP proofs. Diminutive top lever opening action and rebounding hammer, bar action locks are fully engraved, of the highest quality, and retain traces of the original hardening color. Low profile hammers, double triggers and extractors. Nicely figured straight grip stock and splinter forend have been refinished at some point but remain in fine condition. Composite butt plate. Overall tight, dead-on-the-face and mechanically absolutely perfect. Good lightweight 12ga. hammer guns were never plentiful and are almost impossible to find today in this condition. This is the ideal game gun to carry in the field all day.
