Over the past twenty years we have had a fair number of SP clients ask if we knew of a book identifying and categorizing primitive African weapons. We knew of none available until we came across this book. Terri, who compiled and wrote this book, has collected swords, axes, knives, and other cutting-edge weaponry for decades. The task of putting this book together was Herculean, as is obvious from the content:

He divided the African continent roughly along former colonial spheres of influence, and each section is almost a book on its own. The reader will find artifacts from Sudan, Abyssinia, British East and Central Africa, South Africa, Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, French West Africa, Liberia, Spanish Africa, and North Africa. Each section is then subdivided by tribe. From looking at this book, it is evident that much of what is seen in modern Africa on tourist markets is but a mere shadow of the fantastic artistry and craftsmanship that once was practiced in Africa. You will find weapons for hunting, for killing your enemies, for ceremonies, and even for currency. In addition, shields and old muskets from Arabian slavers are included.

This massive endeavor contains 681 pages and weighs over 7 pounds! It has been entirely photographed in color on coated paper, and is oversize. Obviously no expense was spared. It is the most complete book on this subject we have ever seen.
