Thomas Bland, exceptionally fine 8-bore double rifle, ca.1900. Weight 16 3/4 lbs. Stock dimensions: 14 3/8"x 1 5/8"x 2 5/8"x st. Superb 26" steel barrels with absolutely mint bores have one standing 50yd. rear sight with two folding leaves to 75 and 100yds. all retaining 95% of the original brilliant black finish. Top rib engraved "charge 10 drams black". Extremely rare top lever opening action with third fastener and rebounding hammer bar action sidelocks all retaining much of the original color hardening. Another rare feature is that the top tang extends down the wrist, over the comb, and back all the way to the heel of the original Silver's butt pad. Beautiful original pistol grip stock and splinter forend retain most of the original finish and show little evidence of use. This magnificent rifle was used to great effect in Africa for many years by a dear friend of mine and comes complete with 17 brass cases, sizing dies, and conical bullet mould which casts bullets in the range of 1600 grains. Extremely accurate and certainly one of the finest 8-bore double rifles ever made. Featured in the "Gamefield Classics" section of the July/August, 1999, issue of "Sporting Classics Magazine".
