Paul Scholberg, Liege, exceptionally rare, side-opening, 16ga. O/U game gun built on the renowned "Superbritte" action. Wt. 5 lbs. 6 oz. Stock dimensions: 13 3/8"x 1 1/2"x 2 1/2"x 1/2" cast-off. Superb 27 1/2" chopper lump steel barrels with original 2 3/4" chambers and absolutely mint bores, choked .022"/.009" (front trigger fires lower barrel), retaining 100% original brilliant black finish. All barrel measurements conform to the original proof house specifications. Beautifully engraved and gold inlaid action has all the most desirable features including bushed firing pins, ejectors, and articulated front trigger. Non-automatic safety. Highly figured, Perch-belly, walnut stock and forend with fancy checkering pattern retain 100% of the original finish. Checkered butt. This unique side lever, side opening, mechanism was patented by Britte of Belgium as the "Superbritte" action. Never made in large numbers, these guns are highly desirable today primarily due to the extremely slender, elegant lines and lightweight allowed by the side opening system. Extremely rare to find in 16ga., this magnificent example remains in virtually mint, original condition.
