Charles Lancaster, London, best lightweight 16ga. O/U game gun, ca. 1915. Weight: 6 lbs. Stock dimensions: 14 3/4"x 1 1/4"x 2 3/8"x 1/4" cast-off. Beautiful 28" ribless "Whitworth Steel" barrels with original 2 3/4" chambers have brilliant bores (.664"/.666"), choked .020"/.020", walls .034"/.032". Beautifully engraved and scalloped boxlock action retaining traces of original hardening color. Most of the original black remains on barrels, top lever, trigger guard, and forend iron. Nicely figured straight grip stock with checkered butt and splinter forend with horn cap. Single non-selective trigger fires top barrel first. Automatic safety. Original pre-WWII O/U game guns by best British makers are quite rare by most standards and highly desirable for both shooters and collectors. This is a fine condition honest little gun, tight and mechanically perfect. |
