Dumoulin, Belgium, exhibition grade magnum Mauser in .505 Gibbs, completed in 1989. Weight: 9 1/4 lbs. 14" LOP. 24" barrel with mint bore. Magnum Mauser action engraved and gold inlaid by Griffnee. Highly figured pistol grip stock with cheek piece and trap door grip cap. The embellishment, flawlessly executed by Griffnee, includes deep relief ornamental acanthus scroll, deeply sculpted steel game scenes, flush multicolored gold inlays, and highly sculpted raised gold inlays, the overall effect of which is absolutely stunning and, along with the overall quality of the rifle, accounts for the $20,000 price fetched at the 1989 SCI Auction. Original maker's case with all documentation. Not offered for sale since 1989 and replacement cost today would be well in excess of $50,000. Overall absolutely superb.
