African Lion

Price: EUR 35,-
8 DVDs, running time 6 hours, 45 minutes
This high-definition eight-volume set shows us footage of one of the world’s most magnificent creatures. In the film Lions of Etosha (Namibia), nineteen cats (a pride) are followed for months as they encounter elephants and even black rhinos as well as neighboring prides that are none too friendly. In Lord of the Lions we see the famous George Adamson, who raised Elsa the lioness, the star of Born Free, and his “house” in a completely remote area of northern Kenya where his breakfast table is shared with more animals than humans! This is the last footage taken of Adamson before he was killed by Somali poachers only months later. In The African King we follow the harsh and competitive life of a male lion as he proclaims his domain over the Rift Valley. In Lions & Hyeneas we see how lions in the Serengeti will kill obnoxious hyenas, but we also see hyenas run lions off their kills and make off with the meat. It is a lion-eat-hyena world! Watch as a lioness wages a valiant battle to save her cubs from the new pride masters in the Lioness’ Tale. Dangerous Companions features Kevin Richardson, a zoologist and animal behaviorist. He raises and trains some of the most dangerous animals known to man. See how Richardson’s unusually gentle methods have allowed him to develop some exceptionally close bonds, including sleeping among lions. Lions rarely hunt baboons because they are armed with dangerous teeth and are hard to catch and usually not worth the risk or effort. Watch Monkey Hunters riveting footage of where baboons are plentiful and lions have learned to catch them. View Tarangire and see lions and leopards make a meal of an unwary visitor in the world famous Serengeti of Tanzania. None of these films has any hunting, but if you like lions, you will find all of them worthwhile.
